· The Pressure Actuated Sleeve Shifting Tool (PASST) is a shifting tool used to open sliding sleeves by applying tubing pressure and maintaining a positive tubing pressure. · Use with the APCV-3 to have a traditionally operated sliding sleeve after the PASST has shifted the sleeve the first time. |
|
Application The PASST with the APCV-3 was design to be used inside the screens of a gravel pack completion. When the gravel pack washpipe is pulled out, the WSST-2 or WSST-1 shifts the Support Collet out from supporting the Lock Collet Insert. Now the PASST is able to shift sliding sleeve whenever the tubing is pressured up.
PASST Benefits: · Support Collet Permits Tubing Pressure Without Premature Shifting of Sleeve. o Gravel packing ability. Support/Lock collet prevents pumping pressures prematurely shifting the sleeve in single zone applications. o Test concentric string. Support/Lock collet permits testing the integrity of the concentric string after the Gravel Pack without prematurely shifting the sleeve. o Shift support collet with shifting tool attached to wash pipe
· Tubing Pressure Actuated. Does not require ‘negative’ tubing pressure to shift the sleeve. o Sleeve can shift with ‘positive’ tubing pressure. o Eliminate need for slick line run. Since the sleeve is shifted with positive tubing pressure there is no need to make an additional slick line trip. o Hydraulics system is locked into place after sleeve is shifted.
· PASST Ratings o 17,000 psi maximum absolute pressure. o 300°F maximum temperature rating.
· APCV-3 Advantages o APCV-3 operates as traditional (up to open and down to close) APCV sleeve after being hydraulically opened. o Uses the same shifting tool to remove support collet and shift sleeve in later operations. |
