Details
PetroFrac delivered the ShortSTAK Flapper OAL 7” composite frac plug, utilizing a patent pending flapper system. The plug and flapper are rated for 10,000 psi differential pressure, and 300⁰ F. The flapper system replaces either a ball on seat or a trapped ball. The ShortSTAK frac plug utilizes a Smart Wire Line Adapter Kit (WLAK) that reduces risk of pre-set and short stroked setting tools, thus increasing reliability.
The operator was able to complete the well with less water volume needed by a ball drop plug system, saving an estimate $3,000 per stage. ShortSTAK’s over all length of 7 inches is 5 to 8 times less material, compared to conventional plugs. Thus, resulting in 45% faster millout compared to the competition’s ball on seat plugs.
The millout time savings and the reduced cost by running the flapper system on the ShortSTAK resulted in less downtime, cost saving on fluid and chemicals, and reducing exposure to operational risks.
